It’s an advantage to have the services of a guide when you are enjoying the sights of Beijing and surrounding attractions. Every major hotel will offer guided tours to check out Beijing. Tour buses can pick passengers up in front of their hotels.

Contact the China International Travel Service, located at CITS; 28 Jianguomenwai Dajie, Chaoyang District (010-6515-8570). This is the official government agency. You may also want to contact the Beijing Hutong Tourist Agency (010-6524-8482), which delivers the only guided pedicab tour of the city’s back alleys. You will be able to experience such sights as the Drum and Bell Towers, as well as the Prince Kung's Palace. You should reserve this service in advance.

You can take a one day tour which encompasses both the Forbidden City and a trip outside Beijing to the Great Wall. Such a tour for two people will cost about 70 to 100 US dollars each person but includes pick up from your hotel and private car transport, entrance fees and a guide.

This company, Tour Beijing, can also provide tours to the Zoo, Summer Palace etc. Or maybe you would like to take a tour in the evening with a Peking Duck Dinner, a show or circus act and a drive around Beijing. Such a tour will cost around 40-50 US Dollars including pick up and return to your hotel, admission fees etc. The tour lasts about 4 hours and you can arrange special prices for children.
